The 3 Best Beauty & Wellness Spots In The Hague

When one thinks of The Hague, it’s often the striking architecture that first comes to mind or the fact that it’s known as a hub for political rights. However, as a woman with a passion for self-care and all things beauty-related, I saw the city through a different lens when I lived there. I was keen to discover the city’s beauty spots in a bid to maintain my prim nails and neat posture.

I would walk past political landmarks, engrossed in the Treatwell app on my iPhone, searching for highly-rated and dependable beauty salons for my spa and wellness treatments.

Let your worries melt away in The Hague..

Florence Laval Studio, located in The Hague (Duinoord), is well-known in the city among expecting mothers and massage enthusiasts for its range of high-quality pre and postnatal treatments, as well as traditional massages. The owner, Florence, speaks French and English and can be contacted for appointments via her website contact form.

Ms. Laval recently won 5th place in the facial massage category at the 7th World Massage Championship 2024. If that’s not convincing enough that you need to visit this highly trained and skilled massage therapist, I would recommend treating yourself to at least one Kobido massage.

If you work in stressful environments, do consider a treatment here as the face holds a lot of tension through jaw clenching and bruxism (teeth grinding). TMJ is also a pain (pun intended) and can be managed holistically through natural massage (I prefer this approach to botox!)

I visited the Florence Laval Studio numerous times throughout 2022, twice for a face massage and four or five times for a full body massage. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and ambiance and only realised how unique this studio is when I left the city!

How to become hairless in The Hague?

Javita, centrally located at Korte Houtstraat 7, 2511 CC, is truly exceptional.

I found the salon via Treatwell – these lovely ladies are highly-rated on the app and located close to the main shopping street so you can always indulge in retail therapy before or after your treatments.

Their waxing technique is outstanding. ✨ It’s really painless and the wax itself is applied in a hygienic and mindful way.

Additionally, the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming, a quality that can be difficult to find in this bustling cosmopolitan city. I always booked with Kim, a very sweet girl, fluent in both Dutch and English. The owner, Julia, has a 5 star rating from 400+ customers on Treatwell and she’s also fluent in Dutch and English.

If you’re nervous about waxing or particularly shy, then you should definitely add Javita to your list of self-care spots in The Hague. The staff know how to put you at ease with some light-hearted conversation during your sessions.

Pricing is similar to other waxing salons in the city – facial waxing starts from 12 EUR up to 50 EUR for the full face including eyebrows. Their intimate area waxing (Hollywood and Brazilian) is around 49 EUR.

Looking for a good mani/pedi service?

I’ve had a few manicures and pedicures at Phann Beauty & Day Spa Den Haag, located on Plein 9, 2511 CR. While it might be slightly overrated on Treatwell, the customer service and ambiance are consistently good. The salon is clean and elegantly furnished, earning it a spot on my list.

The quality of the treatment at Phann Beauty & Day Spa Den Haag does depend largely on the therapist. In 2022, I had instances where my nails started chipping after just a few days, which was disappointing.

However, I once had an exceptional pedicure experience with a lovely Caribbean lady who had just finished beauty school.

Her name escapes me unfortunately, although I still cherish the memory of her gentle technique, which left my feet baby-soft!
