Burgers Worth Traveling For: A Review of Inglewood in Geneva

Inglewood, a quirky Geneva burger chain with two branches (one at Eaux-Vives, Av. de Frontenex 5, 1207, and the other at Plainpalais, Bd du Pont-d’Arve 44, 1205), captured my heart in 2018.

This review is an ode to those chilly Swiss evenings when I stopped by this welcoming establishment for a bite to eat and left with a happy heart and stomach.

How we met

It started as a typical love affair; I typed “best places to eat near me” into Google but, since Geneva is better known for fondue or gourmet dining, I settled on this highly-rated burger restaurant, which was more popular among people my age.

I had never actually enjoyed burgers much before this visit.

I find the ratio of bread to meat very odd, and frankly, I associated burgers with the overindulgent American diet. I’ve always tried to follow ‘healthier’ Mediterranean diets.

Anyway, I was very hungry upon arrival, so I sat down and perused their clipboard menu, amused by the casual presentation and brightly coloured cartoons.

I ordered the ‘Pasadena’ without tomatoes and onions (a choice I maintain for all burgers to this day). It cost 17.90 CHF (Swiss Francs) at that time, and, after checking the menu in 2024, I’m surprised to see the price remains unchanged, given the rate of inflation.

Inglewood’s take on the cheeseburger: The Pasadena

This was your typical cheeseburger, or so I thought. When it arrived about 10 minutes later, I experienced love at first bite within moments of tasting it.

The meat had an inexplicable tenderness; it was medium rare, but its beauty couldn’t be expressed in words alone. I was mesmerized until I finished the entire burger before the fries. The choice of a soft and elegant brioche bun elevated the entire meal, complementing the high-quality ingredients that justify the burger’s price.

Unlike many burger establishments, Inglewood’s delicious fries were satisfyingly crisp and svelte, further enhancing the dining experience. I vowed to return and did so a few days later.

Should you visit Inglewood?

If you visit Geneva, I highly recommend stopping by Inglewood to try one of their delicious burgers. The unparalleled quality of Swiss meat and Inglewood’s cult-like appeal converted me into a burger enthusiast. You’ll likely get drawn in anyway, so why not enjoy a fantastic burger at a top-notch establishment?
